Terms of Service

Last updated: March 4, 2026

By accessing or using DocuShell (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. The Service is operated as a free, ad-supported toolkit for everyday PDF work, with optional paid plans for higher usage limits and additional features.

Eligibility & Acceptable Use

You may use DocuShell only with content you own or are authorized to process. You agree not to use the Service to process material that infringes intellectual property rights, violates privacy laws, contains malware, or is otherwise unlawful. You also agree not to attempt to bypass rate limits, run automated abuse, scrape internal endpoints, reverse-engineer protected components, or interfere with the advertising configurations that keep the free tier operational.

Service Architecture & Browser Processing

To protect your privacy, many of our tools run entirely within your web browser— including Merge, Split, Organize, Rotate, Remove Pages, PDF to Excel / JSON, Markdown to PDF, and Password Protect. While this prevents data transfer to our servers, it also means the performance and success of these tools depend on your device's hardware, memory, and browser capabilities. We make no guarantee that browser-based processing will succeed for any particular file size, page count, or document structure.

Cloud Services & File Deletion

For server-side tools (such as Webpage-to-PDF and Server Compression), DocuShell temporarily utilizes cloud infrastructure to process your requests. We operate a strict File Deletion Policy: all files processed on our servers exist only for temporary transit and transformation. Finished jobs are cleaned up immediately after download or completion, and any temporary storage that remains is swept within one hour. We do not act as a backup service or long-term storage provider — always keep your own copy of source documents.

Accounts & Billing

You may use most DocuShell tools without an account. Some features — usage history, higher limits, and paid plans — require signing in with Google or an email address. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.

Paid plans are billed through our payment provider. By starting a subscription you authorize recurring charges on the cadence shown at checkout (monthly or annual) until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your dashboard; cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current billing period unless required by law. We reserve the right to update prices with at least 30 days' notice, taking effect on your next renewal. Refunds are issued at our discretion for proven service failures and within statutory consumer-protection windows where applicable.

Paid API Credits, Hard Limits, And Overages

Paid API plans include a monthly credit allowance for API and server-powered jobs. Credits reset each billing cycle, do not roll over, and are enforced as a hard limit. DocuShell does not auto-charge overages; when credits are exhausted, eligible API requests may stop with an insufficient-credits response until the plan renews, you upgrade, or more credits are otherwise made available.

Refund eligibility for unused paid API purchases is described in our Refund Policy.

Advertising & Free Tier

Because DocuShell is offered as a free service to the public, the free tier is supported by third-party advertising networks, primarily Google AdSense. Ads may be displayed on tool pages, in the footer area, and as non-blocking placements during processing. Advertising preferences can be managed through Google's settings and our cookie banner. Tampering with, blocking-by-injection, or maliciously interfering with the ad configuration as a means to abuse the Service is not permitted.

Intellectual Property

The DocuShell name, logo, website code, written guides, and product UI are the property of DocuShell and its licensors. You retain all rights to the documents and content you submit to the Service. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your files to us; we only need a limited, temporary license to process them on your behalf for the duration of the requested job.

Service Availability & Disclaimers

Service availability may vary. The Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis, without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or freedom from errors. To the maximum extent permitted by law, DocuShell is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Service.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for any account that violates these Terms, abuses our systems, or creates risk to other users. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, and Governing Law) will continue to apply.

Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the product evolves or as legal requirements change. Material updates will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
